A Week in the Life of Me

April 22 - 28. 2012

The week started kind of messy.  My mom had to ask me to stay in my room while she emptied out the nasty stuff in the vacuum cleaner.  Then she asked me to get dressed while she took a shower because we had somewhere to go...

I should have known. A vacuum cleaner store.  She said we were out to find one with a bag. So we went to the Oreck store.  She had me try out a few and I liked the swivel one the best.  So we bought it.

Then we went to have lunch at Roly Poly.  Today, I had them make my turkey wrap hot.  It was good but I think I like cold better.

Late that night I woke up very thirsty. So I filled my water bottle from the refrigerator so I would not wake anyone up. My mom still caught me and thought this was very clever.

On Wednesday, I was on my computer and discovered facebook. I was having fun looking at lots of pictures.  Then I spotted Ashely. She has an IV and is getting an infusion. I hate those.  So I wanted to talk to her.  My mom told I could wave to her and she would take a picture and we would post it and then her mom would let her see.

I was having so much fun. There are so many cute pictures on here.

OMG!!! Look at how cute these puppies are.  They belong to Micah.

Later in the day this lady came in to show us glass buttons she makes.  She is from North Dakota and she reads my blog.  If you look closely someone I know just walked in.

It is Stacy and Lisa's grandma. Her real name is Lila, but I call her Stacy's grandma.  She has been in the hospital so it is really good to see her.

Later that night my mom took a picture of me looking at the picture of me looking at facebook.  Whew that was a long sentence.

On Friday I had lots to do at the store.  I put all the labels on the new charm packs.

Then we got in a new size of thread.  We decided to put it on one of these thread racks so my mom gave me the job.

It reminded me of pegboard work I used to do at my job training program. Hey how did they know I was going to work here one day?

All done.  Now it is late so my mom and I will go home soon.  We are alone this weekend. My dad and brother are in Columbus for a soccer games.

The next morning I was a little sad.  I did not get to say goodbye to Matt.  So I called him. Then I felt better.

We have been having a drawing going on over on the facebook account for the store.  Today Katrina and I are picking the winner.

Oh this is so exciting.  Do you want to know who won?  You have to like the store's facebook page to find out:)

We stayed at the store until pretty late.  Then we went to Target.  My mom let me shop all by myself. I even paid on my own.  And then I waited for her in the snack shop.  Darn. It was already closed. No treats tonight.  Do you want to know what I bought...

LOL!!!!!!  Alvin and The Chipmunks.  I am going to watch it up in my room.  See ya next week.

Call for Female Models with Ds

A pattern company...well not just any pattern company...Izzy & looking for a model or two for their pattern covers.  They are a fun group of very talented gals.  Here is Sarah at last years Quilt Market with Jana in the Izzy and Ivy booth.

Here is what they are looking for: Diversity is a HUGE priority here at Izzy & Ivy...we strive to represent children of all heritages, nationalities and would really like to represent children with disabilities on our covers also. Do you know a little one that might enjoy being an Izzy diva? We are especially interested in finding a model who represents the Down Syndrome community. Please keep in mind that this little person needs to LOVE having their picture taken. Modeling is hard work, the child needs to be able to make eye contact and can take simple directions, most importantly she needs a winning smile! Let us know if you're a lucky friend of an extra special person!  They prefer a child between the ages of 5-7.  With our kiddos that could fluctuate.

Don't you just love all their cuteness.  If you are interested please send them an email directly at along with a photo or two.

And btw...yes we do have these adorable patterns and label sets in our shop.

A Week in the Life of Me

April 15 -21, 2012

So my week starts in an elevator...

when the door opens guess who is with me? little brother Matt. He hurt his ankle at soccer practice a few weeks ago, so he has been going to Rehabilitex for some therapy.  I thought it would be nice if I went with him.  They cleared him for play so I think I must have been good luck.

On Wednesday, I had a package waiting for me at the store.

Oh this is so exciting. Look. It is a picture of Katie. Remember when I was counting coins for her adoption fund.  She is almost home.

This is super cool. Kim, that's Katie's mom, sent me my very own set of Matryoshka dolls.

I went right over to my desk and set them up. I also went to their blog to read about what is going on their life right now.

Later in the morning, my mom took me over to the Building Dept. in the city where our store is located.  They told the sign company on Monday that our sign has been denied. Again.

So I took some pictures with me and said, " I want a sign. A real sign.  One with just my name. There are two open spaces on the sign in front of our building. I want a sign."  And so guess what?

I get a sign.  They approved my sign.  So we hurried over to the sign store.

Hannah was so surprised to see us.  Especially when I told her I got the sign approved.  She said she is going to send me to the Building Dept. more often.

Then I got to pick my color out. I picked # 116. It is a deep yellow because that is my color.

On Friday night we went to see the musical Hairspray.  The girl who is playing Amber, the one in the middle with the blond wig, is the granddaughter of one of our customers.

The best part it was at my former High School.  At intermission I saw a lot of people I know.  Like Rachel.

And then more friends spotted me and came over.

It was so fun.  It was like a reunion.

And then I spotted Mrs. Benjamin.  I loved her. She was the teacher that road in the limo with us to Prom.  She is so nice.

We had to get back to our seats though because the second act was about to begin.

The end.  That was a really good show.  The Brush kids did an amazing job.

After the show, I ran into Jodie.  She was one of the dancers in the ensemble.  She used to be in the Brownie Girl Scout troop that I was a helper for.

On Saturday, my mom let me sleep in because I was so tired.  Then she snuck home to get me at lunch time.

It was a good thing, because Mrs. Kent came to the store to see me.  I have not seen her for a long time.  She is like my second mother. She loves me that much. She was my softball coach for so many years.

Her daughters Lizzie and Jessie came too.  They were in that same Brownie troop.  That's sorta funny that I see them all in one week.

On Saturday, Katrina always works with us. I love Katrina. She is so fun.  She is a nurse during the week.  She helps patients who are getting a bone marrow transplant just like Kristen did.  She picked out some new fabrics to make a quilt.  She is a really good quilter.

Her friend Brittany came to visit today. She is a photographer and she was hiding out down at the Art Museum when TJ proposed to Julie.  She took some amazing pictures. I will show you one day.

Well it is time to go home.  Do you notice anything?  Haaa that is my finger on the cd controller. I have decided I do like sitting in the front seat. I can control the music.  It makes my mom a little crazy because I play it really LOUD!!!

We are off to do some shopping.  We are bachelorettes this weekend because the boys are down in Columbus for soccer. I hope Matt's ankle is ok or I am going to have to take him back to therapy tomorrow.

A Week In the Life of Me

April 8 - 14, 2012

My week started in the charming little village of Chagrin Falls.

The Chagrin Falls Quilt Guild invited us to speak.  They meet at the library.

I really like to talk to people.

This is Bonnie and Michele.  Bonnie is very tall. I am very short.  I am not looking at the camera because I spotted someone I know.

I recognized her from CEVEC.  That is the job training program I used to be in.  She was so happy to see me.

This picture shows you where I spent the next three days this week.  I hate when the weather changes so quickly. I always end up having trouble breathing.  I was feeling much better by Friday so I went back to work.

It was a good thing because I got to meet Anie and her mom Ruth. Anie is studying to be a music therapist, so I got to tell her all about what I have been doing with Bonnie and the Groovy Garfoose

Have you heard about Bloom? It is a book. Well there is this quilter named Pippa and she hooked up with Kelle Hampton the author of Bloom and they created these quilts. Pippa is donating 15% of her sales to the National Down Syndrome Society. Pretty cool huh!!

Oh my gosh. I have to vacuum to get ready for something that is suppose to be coming to the store.

Shhh...this is how you steal water from the refrigerator in the store to sneak it upstairs.  I hope nobody catches me.

Oh yea.  They are here.  That's a huge truck for one little chair.

Do you remember that pink chair.  Well this is it. Only it is not pink.  It is the perfect color to match the counter in the store. Oh look it's made in the United States. I like that.  It is from Indiana.  That is right next to Ohio.

The best part is I can sit here and say to my mom while she is cutting fabric, "Hey, what's for dinner?"

Oh speaking of fabric...look what came in from Michael Miller.  Fabric with cupcakes and Happy Birthday.  Do you see those buttons?  I sorted those by color to make a display.  Pretty cute little dish we found. It is like an egg carton only ceramic.

It was Friday, so I had to make the run to the bank.  My mom stayed in the car today.  Good thing because this guy came in and stunk like smoke.

Oh this is a Friday night treat. We went to Sonic for dinner. I had a wrap and tator tots.  How do you like how I keep my seat belt on even though we are parked.   Do you know I always sit in the back seat. I just like it that way.
