This is 29!

This is my birthday week. I am 29 years old.

My celebration started on Saturday night.

I saw this ad scrolling on Facebook. It said the Cleveland Orchestra was going to be playing the Little Mermaid at Blossom Music Center. I wanted to go. So I asked my mom. She said, "Sarah, there is so much walking there I don't know if it is a good idea. I said, "Yes, we are going."

Then I asked my dad. He said, Sarah do you know the pavilion is built into a really big hill and the parking lots are really far away?" "Yes dad. We can take my wheelchair." So we did.

It was really easy. There was a van waiting at the parking lot to take us down the big hill.

My dad just had to help roll me in after the lift went up.

And then he got to sit next to me in the van.

My mom sat in front of us. "Hi Mom!"

And then she pushed me right into the Pavilion. We didn't even have to go down the hill at all.

We had the most perfect wheelchair accessible seats. There was so much room.

And look what a great view I have of the screen.

The screen? "Dad, do you think they are going to be playing the movie?"

Look, I think they are. This is so exciting!

This is the biggest screen I ever saw.

The Cleveland Orchestra is so good!! They are playing the entire score to the movie.

Oh it's intermission.

Time to stand up for a stretch.

This is the best birthday present! I am having a really good time.

Oh no. Guess what. Someone is smoking. My little brother warned us about this, so we wore scarves just in case. Good thing.

Look at my mom and dad. Aren't they cute. They just had their 32nd Anniversary.

It's time for the second half. I am so happy.

Bravo!!! That was magical. The guest conductor was Sarah. Hey, that's my name too.

I had such a good night!!!

Me and my mom.

Me and my dad.

Moonlight Selfies!!!

Look at this. The van came back to take us back up the hill to our car.

My mom was a little worried about that. But it all worked out perfectly.

Good morning! Today I am at the Cleveland Clinic office for a check up. Everything was good.  So we are going back to my Grandpa's old house to sew.

It was all good. But then just as we were about to get sewing it started getting really bad out.

And so windy. And that's when my mom said maybe we should go in the laundry room. Just in case.

So we did. But guess what? There are no snacks in here. I want Goldfish.

Ok Storm is over. I found the Goldfish.

And look at this. Not even one hour later and it is so nice out again. That was weird.

My Grandma used to have two chairs here and she would read by these windows. Now look how perfect it is for me to sew.

I better get to work. I have a really big order of mug rugs I need to get done.

I love sewing here. It's peaceful.

Guess what? My dad just walked in. Hi Dad!

He said, "Oh let me take a picture of my favorite girls sewing." So he did.

Then we got back to work.

I am really good with scissors.

I am so happy. My dad got the tv to work. I am watching Mama Mia while I sew. I love that movie.

All done for today. I have the tops to four mug rugs done. That's a good day.

Today is Wednesday. First I have music therapy. Then I come over to Artful 21 Gift Shop at The Up Side of Downs office.

They sell my mugs rugs here for me. This is Barb. She is so nice.

And this is Toni. She is the Executive Director. She does a lot of good things.

Time to leave. We are going to Cleveland. I have a Glee Club performance tonight.

Oh no. I am not feeling so good.

Darn it. I had a seizure in the car. My mom got of the highway and pulled onto a side street.

Then she called my dad and told him we were heading for his office. He met us in the parking lot with a bottle of cold water.

Then I started to feel better. So we left for Cutters Creek.

When we got there my mom gave me a breathing treatment and then I took a nap until it was time to go. My mom and dad were not sure I should still go but I said we are going.

Before we were at the church I got out my inhaler for a puff. It helps me breath better.

And now here we are. Ready for the Glee Club Show to start.

How do you like how my scarf matches my dress. Wait until you see what I am going to do with it. Ready, set, go!

Me and Bonnie. We have been together for a really long time.

And here are the Glee Club helpers.

This is Sarah. Sarah and Sarah. She is a music therapist with Bonnie and the leader of Glee Club.

It turned out to be a very good day. Tomorrow is my real birthday. I wonder what we will do.

Good Morning Birthday Girl. That's what my mom said. Then she brought me my favorite puppies in bed. Nicky on the left and Jackson on the right. He needs a haircut. Then she asked me if I wanted to go see Mama Mia 2 for my birthday. Of course I said, Yes!!!

We were walking in and all of a sudden this guy jumps out of nowhere.

Wait I know him. It's my little brother!! He came all the way from Kent to surprise me.

I love him so much. He's the best brother in the whole world.

My mom said she was leaving. It was going to be a date, just me and Matt.

This is so much fun! We are like the only people in this theater.

When we got home there were cupcakes waiting for me.

Matt was so happy to see the puppies.

My mom calls him Uncle Dreamy. He's like the dog whisperer. The dogs love him.

I've been called to the cupcakes. Oh look they have candles in them.

One, two, three blow!! That used to be hard for me.

Grandpa and Matt are singing to me. Now I have to make a wish! Then Matt went back to college. I miss him when he isn't here.

The next morning when I woke up Snow White was waiting for me. Do you know I collect Jim Shore Disney characters? I do. Then my mom said how about we have girls day out for your birthday? I was excited.

Our first stop was at Panera for a late breakfast.

But I really wanted a warm chocolate chip cookie.

And since it was my birthday celebration I got it! For later.

Next we went over to Lowe's. It's time to finalize the design for our cutting counter at the new store.

This is exciting. We get to pick hardware and counter tops.

I'm getting my own laundry room so I can wash the pillowcases right in the shop.

All done with that project. Now we just have to wait for it all to come in.

This is Lisa. I have had fun working with her. She has a daughter close to my age. We do some of the same things. I hope I get to meet her one day.

Next my mom said we were going somewhere I have never been before. My grandma used to come here. It is Hartville Collectibles.

These hanging baskets are massive. It's so big I think it is going to eat me alive!

We are here because I get to pick out my next Disney Collectible by Jim Shore. This place sells a lot of them so they get some really special ones in.

I picked Ariel and Prince Eric.

That was a nice stop. Next time we are going to eat lunch here. There were a lot of people waiting in line. They said it was really good.

Final stop. The shoe store.

Ohhhh these feel so good. I want them in two colors.

"You're in luck Sarah," my said. "It's your birthday and it's back to school time so they are buy one get one half price." Lucky me!

When we got back to the house look who was here...my dad!!!

He and Grandpa take such good care of me. My mom says they spoil me!

Time for some pictures on the porch. First with the puppies. Jackson is almost two and Nicky is six months old.

Ahhh me and dad. I'ma daddy's girl. He has to get grilling. I wanted burgers on the grill for my birthday dinner.

First I have to open this present my dad brought for me. Mighty Ducks DVD's. The whole series! I am so happy. Mine were so old there were on VHS tapes. Haa that's because I am 29!

It was a super great birthday. Thank you everybody.

Hi Sarah! I loved your birthday update. I especially like the part about your brother coming home from college to surprise you. I have a daughter with Down syndrome who is 14. She has an older brother who is 16 and will go to college in one more year. I worry about how much she (and I!) will miss him. I like to picture him coming home to visit like your brother.
Best Wishes,
Erika Quirk

awwww that was great, thanks for sharing!!!! Happy Birthday, I wish I could sew as much/often as you do. UR Very lucky and you are so skilled and smooth with the quilting, I seem to have to re-learn every time I get going.
